Casa de Sarmento

The Casa de Sarmento vineyard is based in two regions, Bairrada in the centre of Portugal and Alentejo in the South. It is the fourth wine producer in the Bairrada region with 8 hectares localised in this area.

The red grape varieties Touriga Nacional, Baga, Jaen, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon have been chosen to be planted in the clayey limestone soils. This is the base of the new generation of wines from this terroir. The white grape varieties Bical, le Maria Gomes and Chardonnay represent the common base of any white wine originally from this zone. Because of the interest we developed for this terroir and its favourable temperate oceanic climate, we decided to create a new brand called Arte da Vinha (Art of Vine) composed of red, white and rosé wines from this region. The production process takes place in two modern wineries where we combine new technologies and ancient traditions to generate about 1,5 million litres of wine.
